Bus Mechanic I
Conway Public School District

Qualifications:

1. High school or general education diploma
2. Documented experience with diesel engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul.
3. Knowledge of tire inspection
4. Ability to inspect school buses to meet Arkansas state standards
5. Possesses Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger, school bus, and air brakes endorsements or completion of CDL requirements within the first year of employment.

Reports to:
Transportation supervisor

Supervises:
Not applicable

Terms of Employment:
The contract length will be 240 days.

Evaluation:
Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the transportation supervisor.

Job Goal:
The Bus Mechanic I will endeavor to assist the transportation supervisor with everyday operations of the Transportation Shop.


Performance Responsibilities:

1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
2. Conducts routine inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs on other fleet vehicles.
3. Performs maintenance and operation of equipment.
4. Prioritizes mechanical failures.
5. Inventories parts, tools, and equipment.
6. Maintains all shop areas.
7. Remain updated on safety regulations, recalls, and best practices in fleet maintenance.
8. Keeps and maintains shop records and reports.
9. Available for transportation problems that may arise after normal working hours.
10. Other duties, as assigned.
