Position Description Summary A Truck Driver is responsible for operating a dump truck to transport materials such as dirt, sand, gravel, or construction debris to and from construction sites, mines, quarries, and other work sites. The role involves safely driving the truck, ensuring proper loading and unloading of materials, and performing routine maintenance checks to keep the vehicle in good working condition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Safely operate a dump truck on public roads, construction sites, and other designated routes.
- Transport materials such as gravel, sand, dirt, construction debris, or other bulk materials to and from construction sites, quarries, or designated locations.
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of materials in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate the truck's lifting mechanism to dump materials when unloading at designated areas.
- Verify the load is balanced and properly secured before transporting.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during operation.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the dump truck to ensure it is in good working order.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking tire pressure, oil levels, and ensuring that the dump mechanism is functioning properly.
- Keep the truck clean and free of debris to ensure optimal performance.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, ground personnel, and other drivers to ensure smooth operations and delivery timelines.
- Report delivery progress or delays in real-time to the team.
- Assist in loading or unloading materials when necessary.
- May be required to operate additional machinery on site when not driving the truck.

- Ability to work in a team-centered atmosphere and engaged in the work that is being performed
- Ability to sit for long periods of time while driving
- Ability to focus on the road, traffic and driving without incident
- Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class A or B
- Must have the ability to use a shovel to clean the box from material
- Ability to recognize different sights, sounds and smells that may signal an issue with the truck
Safety - This is a safety sensitive position (requires CDL)
- Follow Fehn Companies AWAIR program and driving policies
- Follow all safety rules in pits and on jobsites
Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
Language Skills An individual must be able to effectively resolve problems by often discussing matters with management and other personnel on site.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

An individual must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including the ability to hear, stand, walk, climb steps or ladders, bend, stoop, twist, turn, and sit for long periods of time.
