Position Mechanical Engineer 1 Location & Schedule Location: Houston, TX Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Travel Required: up to 20% Hours may vary with workload and business needs. As‑needed evenings, weekends, or overtime may be required. About Your Role This hands‑on, full‑time position involves designing and sizing equipment, producing datasheets and specifications, performing hydraulic calculations and analyses, providing 3D modeling support, reviewing construction drawings, and managing mechanical components for heavy industrial/manufacturing or oil & gas facilities. Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities Mechanical Engineering Produces equipment datasheets and specifications. Develops and reviews pipe specifications while ensuring correct pump/hydraulic and equipment sizing calculations. Creates pipes, valves, and fittings bills of material (BOMs). Performs equipment, pipe, and technical valve evaluations on contractor bid packages. Coordinates with other discipline engineers and designers. Assists with other duties as assigned. Construction Documents Produces line and equipment lists. Performs 3D modeling support & isometric reviews. Reviews construction drawings and documents. Construction Support Performs site walk‑downs, including as‑built support. Works with contractors to answer RFIs, produce project cost and bid packages, and mechanical scope‑of‑work documents. Stress Analysis Develops models in CAESAR II to perform stress analysis. Prepares stress analysis reports. Bachelor’s Degree required. Relevant experience: CEASER II or pipe stress analysis required. Specialized Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Problem‑solving skills for quick resolution of simple problems. Self‑direction and responsibility for own tasks, deliverables, and timelines. Leadership skills and some general experience leading work groups or task forces. Competent user of required technical and software tools. Valid, active driver’s license with a good driving record. Supervisory Expectations The position does not have any regular responsibility for overseeing or supervising the work of other team members. Independence of Action Supervisor/manager closely monitors work; detailed instructions and procedures are generally provided. Physical Demands and Work Environment The work environment is a typical office setting with significant distractions—staff, clients, vendors, telephones, and conversations. Physical demands include: regularly sitting, using hands to manipulate objects, frequent speaking/hearing, occasionally standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasionally lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
