Elise Krentzel is an author, ghostwriter, culture journalist, book coach, and public speaker whose career has spanned five countries and multiple creative industries.
She began her international journey in Japan, where she founded a talent and booking agency, helped introduce punk rock, and worked as a DJ and music journalist. As the Tokyo Bureau Chief for Billboard Magazine, she brought pioneering Japanese innovations—including the Sony Walkman and the Laserdisc—to Western audiences.
After years of working across the global media and storytelling sectors, Elise returned to her first love: writing. Today, she helps authors craft bold, honest memoirs, and nonfiction with clarity, courage, and a firm editorial hand. She is currently working on Hydra: The Human Atlas, a deep cultural portrait blending reportage, personal narrative, and the voices of an island in transition.
When she’s not roaming the world as a digital nomad, she calls Austin, Texas, home. Elise is the proud mother of her #1 son.
“I used to be a drama queen, but now I’m just a queen.” — Under My Skin
I have thought about what it would take to write a book for as long as I can remember. Elise proved to be thoughtful, knowledgeable, and professional. She offered guidance throughout the discovery process. I appreciate how she challenged me and never gave up on me – even when I began doubting my ability to put my thoughts on paper. I highly recommend her services to anyone who has “always wanted to write.” She will help you determine if the story is within you and how best to bring it to the surface.
