Following Elise’s best selling book, number one in her memoir trilogy “Under My Skin”, here comes book number two:

In Elise’s continuing memoir saga, her second book explores how she carved out an extraordinary life as a fearless businesswoman and adventurer in Japan, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Defying expectations in a world rarely seeing women as entrepreneurs—especially in foreign lands—Elise built businesses, navigated cultures, and reinvented herself through bold moves and boundless determination.

Becoming The Next Big Thing
Becoming The Next Big Thing
Debora Ewing, poet/artist/songwriter

I couldn't wait to find out what that sassy Elise Krentzel did once her stint as a rock journalist for the KISS Japan tour ended...and boy, you aren't going to believe it! I was expecting her to keep being sensational; she did not disappoint.

Rogue Enterpreneur includes three husbands, multiple countries from Asia to Europe (with a couple of stateside pilgrimages) and - dare I say - an ADDICTION to entrepreneurship, to not only discovering but becoming The Next Big Thing. You'd think this was all unbelievable, but Elise tells it with her whole heart and mind, which are fully engaged in anything she does. Rogue Entrepreneur could be a road-map for people who cannot shut off or shut down.

Save a little energy, though...I heard there's gonna be a third book...

Resilience, Reinvention, and the Making of a Rogue
Resilience, Reinvention, and the Making of a Rogue
Arjen Broeze
Rogue Entrepreneur is an unflinchingly honest, brilliantly written memoir that pulls you into Elise Krentzel’s extraordinary life with wit, grit, and heart. Her globe-spanning journey—through Japan, New York, Switzerland, South Africa, the Netherlands, and beyond—is as thrilling as it is inspiring. Krentzel’s sharp observations and fearless storytelling make every chapter pulse with raw authenticity. What could have been a simple business memoir becomes a powerful testament to resilience, creativity, and the courage to forge one’s own path. This book is not just a read, it’s an experience that lingers long after the last page.

In part one of Elise Krentzel’s fast-paced memoir trilogy, she takes charge of the tumultuous 1970s by making a name for herself as a rock journalist who toured Japan with Kiss. Her parents encouraged her to sing, play music, and write as a child, but they forbade her from being “herself.”

Alienated, she hid her heart and learned to become a stranger in her skin as the torment of early childhood taught her to mistrust everyone, especially herself.

While this book wasn’t what I thought it would be, it turned out to be something better. If you grew up in New York City in the 70’s and 80’s you will relate. If you liked the movie Almost Famous, this is Almost Famous on steroids. Looking forward to reading more from Ms. Krentzel. A highly recommended memoir.

I really enjoyed this book! I love a good memoir, and a friend of mine raved about this one, so I bought it and ended up reading it in two sittings. It just swept me along -- partly because of the era/setting (1960s and 70s in NYC), and partly because it's so unpredictable.

Elise portrays herself as a wild child while always staying true to her desire to make something of herself. Nothing is left on the floor in this memoir. She lays herself bare and triumphs.. Remember, this is the 70s where women had to fight for every scrap. And she was only nineteen. This is the first of three. Can’t wait to read where the road takes her next.

This is a rocking good read about a rocking good time back when we partied in platform shoes. It’s both funny and principled at the same time. How does a kid from Long Island end up confounding the Japanese mafia? Read it and find out!s leo.
