EDITING

What happens after writing the first draft?

Have you ever read a book with typos or weird spacing? That’s a writer’s and reader’s worst nightmare.

What happens after the first draft is written is where a book becomes itself

Editing addresses the work at the level where meaning, structure, and intention align. This is where issues of form, narrative arc, pacing, repetition, and clarity are resolved, always in service of the author’s voice and purpose.

The editorial work focuses on the integrity of the book—its structure, internal logic, continuity, and credibility. Consistency across chapters and the narrative arc is addressed, gaps or redundancies are flagged, and the manuscript is refined without imposing a new voice. Suggestions are also made regarding chapter titles, table of contents, and overall organization.

This work is developmental and structural. Proofreading-grammar, punctuation, and typographical errors—typically follows.

If you’re working with an existing manuscript we begin with a complimentary consultation.

Elise not only edited my book after the first Turkish translation to English was done, but fine-tuned it to appeal to international audiences. Her firm, EK Editorial & Coaching, acted as our publisher, helping with the entire process from cover design, formatting, uploading to Amazon, and all the rest that gets a book out on the market. I am grateful for all their attention.
