Summary Spire is seeking a System Controller to work in the St. Louis, MO location. This role may include but is not limited to 24/7 monitoring and control of the Company's natural gas distribution systems, storage and transmission assets to ensure safety, reliability and efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities Safely and reliably operate the natural gas system(s) through a SCADA system. Adjust supplies through remote‑control regulators and valves as needed to maintain sufficient system pressures and flow. Remotely control and monitor company equipment (e.g., regulator set‑points, control valves, RCVs, odorant injection, compressors, boilers and heaters) to maintain maximum safety and efficiency of the system. Prepare and submit reports to various departments and personnel within the Company. Monitor, analyze and respond to SCADA alarms and recognize unusual conditions that do not generate alarms while notifying appropriate personnel. Coordinate appropriate and timely response to system emergencies and other operational problems that could result in unsafe conditions and possible service outages. Maintain safe operational practices as described in the Control Room Management Plan. Provide ongoing training and performance monitoring of new system controllers in the use of the SCADA system and the safe operation of the system(s). Complete annual training including (but not limited to) Fatigue Management, Operator Qualification, Information/SCADA Security, Intra‑Departmental Cross‑Training. All other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities None Required Education (certifications, licenses) High school diploma or equivalent. Formal technical training with an Associate's Degree or higher preferred. Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities One to three years of applicable work experience in the natural gas or petroleum industry preferred. One to three years of computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Prior experience using SCADA system software with the ability to program and troubleshoot computer problems preferred. Knowledge of API RP 1165 and API RP 1168 preferred. Knowledge of basic physics, chemistry, gas pressure regulators, gas flow measurement and related gas industry terminology. Must be compliant with all federal and state regulations. Physical Demands, Environment and Schedule Work is performed in a 24/7 control room environment with frequent distractions that require concentration, multitasking and decisive actions. Required year‑round 12‑hour rotating shift work schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays. Occasional 8‑hour shifts may occur. Such work is accomplished in compliance with Company and Federal Control Room Management guidelines.
