Description Medical Science Liaison – Payor MSL (field‑based) engaging with healthcare professionals, decision makers, and key opinion leaders to translate clinical, HEOR, and real‑world evidence into value narratives that inform coverage, reimbursement, and access decisions. Responsibilities Establish, cultivate, and maintain scientific relationships with KOLs while developing a strong understanding of clinical practice as it relates to areas of interest to advance scientific and medical knowledge. Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for the assigned customer. Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions. Serve as the primary resource to provide support for addressing unsolicited medical questions and other scientific exchange matters. Identify, gather, and document payer and field‑generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies while complying with industry and corporate policies. Maintain scientific and clinical knowledge base through continuous learning and awareness of related scientific literature to enable meaningful scientific exchange. Partner cross‑functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, HEOR, and Commercial teams to ensure aligned, compliant, and customer‑centric payer engagement strategies. Leverage knowledge of standards of care, company/investigator‑sponsored clinical trials, and competitor landscape to facilitate external‑internal research communication. Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries of HCPs/investigators/health‑care systems/academic medical centers and treatment team members integrating scientific data including real‑world evidence into practice to meet customer needs. Deliver scientific presentations to formulary committees and other key healthcare decision makers (HCDMs), communicating health‑economic models and supporting clinical data, and serve as the primary field‑based resource to address related questions. Demonstrate strong expertise in health‑economic model design and effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse HCDM audiences. Maintain deep knowledge of cost‑effectiveness models and budget impact models to support informed decision‑making and value discussions. Requirements MD, PhD, PharmD, PA, NP, OD or equivalent degree highly preferred. 5+ years of industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison required. Clinical or related practical experience in ophthalmology preferred. Strong scientific & clinical acumen. Ability to quickly understand & translate complex scientific data and realize the impact on clinical practice and research needs. Experience in Managed Care/PBM, HEOR activities, or strong knowledge of P&T committee processes. Ability to travel up to 60% nationally; overnight and weekend travel may be required; valid driver’s license required. Compensation & Benefits The annual base salary for this position ranges from $180,000 to $197,500. Actual salary will vary based on qualifications, skills, and performance. Other benefits may include a company car or car allowance, eligibility to earn commissions/bonuses, health benefits (medical, dental, vision), company match 401(k), and paid time off (PTO) and sick time.
