Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for a full-time educator specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing instruction in Zion, Illinois. This role focuses on delivering tailored educational programs to students with hearing impairments and working collaboratively to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) addressing student-specific goals and accommodations.
• Utilize assistive technology, visual aids, and effective communication strategies to enhance learning.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student development.
• Provide training and guidance to students, parents, and staff on communication techniques and strategies suitable for individuals with hearing impairments.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a closely related field.
• Valid certification or licensure as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher in Illinois.
• Comprehensive knowledge of instructional methods and assistive technologies that benefit students with hearing loss.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on collaboration and clear communication.
