CLEANING ASSOCIATE The Fresh Air Fund is a youth development organization providing transformative outdoor experiences, at no cost, for New York City children from underserved communities. At six sleepaway camps in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley, children have new experiences, learn new skills and gain new perspectives. Youth also participate in year-round leadership, career exploration and educational programs.
The Fresh Air Fund is recruiting cleaning staff for our rental groups. Cleaning staff have flexible schedules including evening and weekend work.
The Fresh Air Fund is seeking several hard working, personable, and detail-oriented individuals with excellent communication skills to serve as summer cleaning staff. Cleaning staff support the Sharpe Reservation by helping to maintain a welcoming environment for our guests. A current driver's license is preferred.
Responsibilities
Cleaning Staff work under the supervision of the Head Custodian. They help with all aspects of cleaning and disinfecting for the five summer camps. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Transport cleaning supplies and paper products to buildings.
- Dusting and cleaning vents, surface areas, and counter surfaces
- Performs general sweeping, scrubbing, mopping of hardwood, laminate, tiled, and cement floors
- Using vacuum equipment, sanitary blowers, and floor cleaning machines
- Disposing of trash from bins and containers.
- Scrubbing sinks, basins, showers, and toilets in all bathrooms
- Cleaning windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors
- Maintaining and upkeep of all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products
- Ensuring safe and sanitary storage and care of products
- Keeping all spaces neat and tidy
- Reporting repairs and replacements needed when encountered on the job
- Making sure bathroom supplies are stocked during a group's stay and that our rental spaces are presentable for the next group between rentals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Age: Must be at least 18+ years of age.
- Personal: Must be in good general health, able to lift heavy objects on a regular basis.
- Must have the ability to be flexible and adjust to changes quickly.
- Must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Handle concerns/issues in a constructive manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient with basic computer skills.
- Driver's license preferred.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, The Fresh Air Fund requires all employees to meet applicable vaccination requirements in accordance with federal, state, and local laws. As new public health issues arise, The Fresh Air Fund may require additional vaccinations. Proof of vaccination or an approved exemption will be required as a condition of employment, if applicable.
Employment period: Year-Round, though will primarily be getting work between May and September
Hours per week: Hours per week vary.
Compensation: Salary starts at $16.50, based on experience
